Welcome Back!

Wednesday, August 25th marks the beginning of another school year at the Tammy Lynn Center! We are looking forward to having all of our students return to campus and we cannot wait to meet our new friends! The 2010 - 2011 school year is gearing up to be a busy one, but we know that it will bring much success to all of our students.

Fun Facts about Tammy Lynn Center's Developmental Day Services:

• The school building on Campus was constructed in 1979 with the move to our current location on Chappell Drive.
• In 1989 the building was dedicated and named the Clifton L. Benson Education Building, after long-time Center supporter, Clifton Benson.
• In addition to providing special education services, the Center provides before/after school care, along with a summer program and summer camp.
• In 2007 A More-at-Four preschool program started at the Center allowing for inclusive education.

The Developmental Day Program relies on the support from the community. As teachers and students get settled into their new routines and begin another exciting year, we hope that you will consider supporting the Center through a simple donation online.

Back to School Social

Join us on Monday, August 23rd from 4-11pm at the Chili's in Cary for a Back to School social! Meet new friends, reconnect with old friends and show your support for the Tammy Lynn Center!

As part of Chili's Give Back Night - they will be donating 10% of profits that night for groups who come in with the TLC flyer! It's a great way to show your support, meet some friends, and to eat some good food!

All students, residents, TLC families, staff, and supporters are welcome! Make sure to stop by the TLC table to register for some awesome giveaways.

Parents Speaker Bureau

Calling all TLC Parents! We are looking for TLC parents (past and present) who would like to assist with speaking engagements for the Center. Parents would accompany staff to expos, charity fairs, and presentations. Parents can often share a much more passionate perspective on the programs and services offered.

If you are interested in telling your story and informing the community about the Center and the vital programs and services it provides, please consider joining the parents speakers bureau.

2010 Tammy Lynn Golf Classic - A Challenge at the Creek

On Monday, October 4, the 7th annual Tammy Lynn Golf Classic - A Challenge at the Creek will take place at Brier Creek Country Club. Join us as 144 golfers compete for the coveted TLC Glass Bowl Trophy! Sponsorships are available on a first come - first served basis, so be sure to reserve yours today. New for 2010

Families can honor or remember loved ones and benefit the programs and services of Tammy Lynn Center at the same time! At a cost of only $75, you can sponsor a golf flag with your loved one's name. This is a limited sponsorship with only 18 flags available, so be sure to contact us soon!

A Toast to the Triangle - Volunteer Committee

Planning is already underway for the 26th annual A Toast to the Triangle to be held on Sunday, March 6th at the McKimmon Center. Every year nearly 40 volunteer committee members help with the planning and execution of the event. Committee members help with soliciting sponsorships, auction items, securing in-kind donations for the event and more.

If you are interested in learning more about the committee's responsibilities and how to get involved, let us know. Our next meeting is Wednesday, August 25th, and we'd love to see you there!
