Why did I decide to dedicate my time to the Tammy Lynn Center?

It has to do with the wonderful people that they help.  Sometimes it really is that simple.

My parents are from India.  They worked hard to get to the United States and I was fortunate to grow up here.  However, most of my family remained in India and we often visited there.  One of my cousins in India  had a developmental disability.  At that time in India, it was difficult for people who were not born 'normal'.  I remember my uncle, my cousin's father, often lamenting about his son's condition. But I must say, when I visited India many times as a young child, one of my most vivid memories is my cousin, who had a developmental disability, spending hours with me, communicating with me, loving me.

Fast forward to 2008…  Dana Dorroh, a friend of mine who was a member of the Board of Directors, asked me to visit the Tammy Lynn Center.  As a business person, I was short on time.  Aren't we all?  Dana was persistent and insisted that I stop by, and I finally said yes.  It would be cliché to say it was an eye opening experience.   As I walked through the Center, I didn't see people who were less fortunate than we were.  I saw people who live, who interact, who learn, and who love.   In their eyes, I saw the joy and love I saw in my cousin's eyes when I was a young child.

Our world is both cruel and beautiful.  But in what some people consider cruel, there is considerable beauty and love.  More than what many of us will ever experience.  A close friend once said that we as a society should wrap our arms around those who cannot help themselves.   I could not agree more.  That's why I support everyone that the Tammy Lynn Center helps.

Join me in supporting the Tammy Lynn Center and the children, adults and families they help every day.  Please consider making a donation today.
