Ellen Canavan MS,OT/L - Occupational Therapy
Ellen received her Occupational Therapy degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She has previous background in teaching. Ellen has 4 yrs. of school-based experience and l8 yrs. of experience with children with special needs at the Tammy Lynn Center. She has worked with the TLC Early Intervention team during the last 2 years, serving children birth to 3 in the community. Her primary areas of interest are feeding therapy, splinting, fine motor skill acquisition, and sensory processing. Ellen is available to do single evaluations. She serves the east Cary and west Raleigh areas.
Margaret Faust - Physical Therapy
Margaret received her MS degree in physical therapy from Duke University in 1975. Her experience includes working with individuals in an acute care setting , a long term rehabilitation facility, developmental centers, school settings, and in private homes. She has had experience with children in all of these settings. For the past 17 years she has worked with the Tammy Lynn Center as a part-time therapist in the Early Intervention Program. It has been her pleasure to work with children with a wide range of diagnoses associated with motor delays. Presently Margaret is working in the center based school program as well as being available to the Early Intervention Program.
Julie E. Rockefeller - Speech/Language Pathologist
Julie graduated from Ithaca College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. In 2002, she successfully completed a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College. Julie is fully licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina (license # 6665) and holds a certificate of clinical competence issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA # 12028592). Julie has a wide variety of experiences gathered as a permanent and traveling therapist. She has worked with children and adults of all ages from infancy to old age. In addition, she has worked in a variety of settings, including public schools; center-based schools for children with special needs; natural environments, such as homes and daycare centers; preschools; residences and group homes for children with a variety of emotional and physical needs; hospitals and private clinics. Julie has particular interest, training and experience with early intervention, augmentative and alternative communication (i.e., high tech and low tech), feeding therapy and oral motor therapy. In addition, she has worked extensively with providing language enrichment; incorporating therapy goals from other disciplines (e.g., sensory integration, fine or gross motor needs); creating appropriate activities for small groups and classrooms; and coordinating therapy goals with classrooms & families. Julie has worked with children diagnosed with autism, Down Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, agenesis of the corpus callosum, shaken baby syndrome, traumatic brain injury, congenital blindness, cortical blindness, hearing impairment, schizophrenia, failure to thrive, fluency disorder, apraxia, articulation disorder, language delay, dyslexia, learning disorders, behavioral feeding disorder and oral phase dysphagia, among other diagnoses. On a personal note, Julie is currently living in Holly Springs with her husband, Brian. She enjoys swing dancing, reading, crocheting and playing the flute in her spare time. Julie is originally from Webster, NY.
